There are many ways to create a CV but the main thing is to produce a document which represents the candidate and his/her achievements. Always keep this in your mind that CV's are one's personal marketing vehicle and if once you have an interview, you then become your own marketing person to your potential employer. When you are applying for a job opening there would be a dozen of other candidates applying for the same post. So, ensure that your resume stands out from the pile.
When writing a CV it seems many are concentrating only on their academic achievements. But for making your CV a little more bright Highlight your non-academic achievements too.Remember one thing always, your CV gets you the interview, not the job itself. This is often the mistake made by candidates while creating their CV, and they end up with a CV more than two pages long. So if you have an existing CV which is pretty long, try to change your approach.
Recruiters always give high ranking if they see you are a team person and enjoy good inter-personal relationships. So, if you are part of student's associations or an NGO, or any other similar groups try to stress on these points. Of course, academics is the first thing that recruiters see, but extra curricular excellence also will be counted. If you're including sales targets you've achieved, then have them to hand. if you've recently graduated or finished your studies ensure you have all the details regarding education. Talk only about business interests except singing dancing and all, show your Flexibility and responsibility, and tell about you personal initiating skills. As companies also see the personal initiatives that you have taken to add on to your skill and knowledge base.
Make sure that you explained on your verbal communication skills and writing skills. Prior to the interview, prepare a list of questions that a recruiter might ask, write down the answers and read it aloud to yourself. Be specific if you are applying for a position in sales and marketing vertical, a requirement which is across industries, should you tailor your CV every time? Not really. Just be specific and highlight the best fit experiences. Remain updated aware of the news and current affairs. "Read newspapers", watch news, read business writers. Focus more on your field. And there is no one perfect resume. If there were, there would not be so many people ready to give you advice. Read over as much material as you can and compile the pieces that work best for you and reflect your job history in the best light and develop your own format. Dare to be unique, it pays off and makes your resume stand out in the end!
