Advice On How To Find, Love, And Care For A Pet
posted on 07/07/2009
Most people in the United States have some sort of companion. Whether it is a human companion or one of the animal varieties, companionship and friendship is key to happiness in someone's life. I've already written some advice on how to maintain a healthy relationship
for humans. Now let me give you some insight on how to find, care for, and love a friend from the animal kingdom.
Finding the Right Pet
When looking for a pet, there are a few things to keep in mind. The first, and probably most important has to do with where you, the owner, will be living. If it is in an apartment or other rented living space, make sure your landlord allows pets to be kept in the space. Also, even though they may allow pets, most landlords put a breed or weight restriction on what you can actually have while living there. Make sure your decision on a pet fits within these guidelines. If you own your house, you're not free and clear yet. If you have a mate (girlfriend, boyfriend, wife, etc.), make sure that they are not allergic to the pet. That will cause problems when you bring the pet home and they begin to sneeze or have breathing problems due to the type of pet you bought.
TLC for Your Pet
When you bring your pet home, he/she is going to be a little hesitant because they are in a new place. Try your best to comfort them and give them a place to run and hide if they need it. Sometimes, they may even want to take shelter in your arms or snuggle close to you because that is where they feel safest. If that is the case, make yourself available on the ground so they can do so. If they just want to run around and hide, let them do so. Don't force them to spend time in the open around people because this will eventually turn them hostile towards people. When the pet does come around and they get used to their surroundings, always make sure their water is fresh, their food is stocked, and if applicable, their litter box, fishbowl, or whatever else they may use daily, is changed and fresh.
If you follow these few steps on how to find, love, and care for your pet, you and your pet will have many happy years shared together!

Nice work cjdavis42. There is plenty of kitty-cat love to be found in a local animal shelter. So many little kittens waiting for a home and someone to love them.
