Advice On Niagara Falls For A Perfect Vacation
posted on 08/12/2009
Many locations are perfect for family vacations. Niagara Falls is one of them. In fact, it is probably at the top of many lists, including my own. A trip to one of the most awesome natural wonders in the world is perfect for everyone, which is evidenced that Niagara Falls is one of the most popular destination locations for wedding packages and honeymooners, as well as retirees and family with small kids. Plus, you can enjoy Niagara Falls on both sides, Canadian or American, without spending a bunch of money, since the main attraction is free -- there's no charge to view Niagara Falls from either the American or Canadian side. Here are some of the other things you can do at Niagara Falls and which are recommended:
Maid of the Mist - If you don't see any other major attraction, save some time and some of your money to take a ride on the Maid of the Mist. It is an experience you won't forget, as you will be bundled on a boat, complete with rainwear, as the captain fearlessly navigates up the river toward the Falls and parks the boat right by the magnificent, thundering water. You will get wet! You will feel the fierce spray as it hits your face. You will be mesmerized by the power! This is a must see for adults and kids of all ages.
Cave of the Winds - This is a really neat place to view the American Falls. Visitors are given flip-flops (which you get to keep as a souvenir) and protective covering before descending down an elevator to the base of the falls. From there, you are able to walk along various wooden walkways to get different views of the misting "Bridal Veil" falls. "Awesome" doesn't even describe the feeling you get as the powerful falls are almost within reach. This is another "must see" on a trip to the Falls.
Butterfly Conservatory - The Butterfly Conservatory at Niagara Garden Trail is just a few miles from the actual Falls, but is worth a visit. Located in a beautifully manicured park on the Canadian side, the Conservatory is home to hundreds and hundreds of butterflies that roam free and light on your hands, your head and all of the flowers and plants in the conservatory halls. The butterflies are varieties from across the world and are some of nature's most beautiful creatures.
Casinos - If you like to gamble, you'll enjoy the casinos on the Canadian side, although I personally don't know why someone would want to stay cooped up at the craps table or slot machines when you have all the natural beauty of the Falls and the parks right outside the door. Still, if you like the casino nightlife, you will find a little bit of Vegas in Canada at the large casino hotels.
Good food, great accommodations and magnificent natural wonders! - Niagara Falls is the perfect vacation destination. Depending on the rate of exchange, you have a choice of staying in Canada or the United States (remember to bring your passport - you will need it to enter and leave Canada). Your money will stretch pretty far because things on the Canadian side are often less expensive, including hotels and food. But the powerful Falls are the main attraction and totally mesmerizing.
