Advice On Homemade Brazilian Wax
posted on 08/30/2009
Ok girls, Get ready! Here we go:
So what it a Brazilian Wax?
A Brazilian Wax is when you wax your girly parts in your groin area starting on the sides going in , leaving a perfect vertical stripe. Everything under and towards the back should be waxed as well.
So basically, the only hair left should be the famous landing strip, nothing else.
A little bit of history
The reason this type of wax came to be was for the girls to be able to wear the itsy bitsy Brazilian Bikinis without worrying about showing anything they didn't meant to.
Is it going to hurt?
Hell Yeah. More than anything you've ever tried. You'll be screaming Kelly Clarkson like the "40 Year old Virgin" in no time. But here's the good side: - Like any wax job, the more you do it, the less you'll feel it. Less and less hair will grow and it will not hurt so much to pull it next time you wax. I would say the third time won't even bug you much. You'll get used to it.
How do I do it myself
If you're familiar with waxing, you can use one of those already made kits for waxing. They work just as well, but make sure to use something you're familiar with. That region is very sensitive and you should be very careful and read the label of your waxing kit to make sure you can apply it there.
You could also make your own wax...
Here's how...
The home made wax recipe: (this will work for all your waxing needs: legs, underarms, anything)
Add to a pan the following ingredients:
3 leveled table spoons of sugar
2 table spoons of water
Juice of 1/2 a lime (a big one)
Stir well.
Put it on the stove and bring it to a boil at low heat. (Do not stir while it's on the stove)
You'll notice bubbles all over. At the beginning, the bubbles are "White-tish".
Pay attention because reaching the right point when the wax is ready a subtle thing.
The bubbles will turn slightly "brownish".
That's when you test it. Dip a knife and catch some of it.
Blow it cold (VERY IMPORTANT) and when it's ok to the touch, work it pulling and stretching it out until it comes completely off your hand and you can mold into ball that should have the consistency of a sticky play-dough. When this happens, ... it's ready.
(don't take too long doing this test... remember, the remaining part is still in the stove getting "well done" while you do it ).
When you're able to do that, it's done. Take it off the stove and immediately spread it over a cutting board to cool. You can work it with a knife to help cooling it faster.
VERY IMPORTANT: The Wax is EXTREMELY HOT DO NOT HANDLE IT WHILE IT'S HOT It will burn you if you do. (I've got a scar myself ) Pay attention and be extremely careful.
After it cools to a point you can touch it, work it like you did the test. Pull and stretch until it comes off of your hand and turns into a ball (sticky ball).
And there you go! That's your wax!
TIP: If you boiled it past the point, it will not form the wax, but it is a delicious candy! You can eat it.
Doing the Deed:
Tighten the skin (Stretch it) and spread a little section of the Wax against the hair grown direction. Massage and let it grab everything. Pull it out in that same direction, REAL FAST. YES, that should hurt real good, but you should have a big chunk of hair attached to the wax. Work it into a ball again and repeat until that section is clean.
Repeat everywhere it applies.
TIPS:
1- Taking a tylenol or any other pain relief medicine you're used to before waxing does help.
2- Do it by parts... It hurts less and you can quit if you want to.
3- Separate your wax into sections. Your wax will work for several pulls but it will lose its grip as it gets filled with hair. (You'll notice it turns dark and does not want to form into a ball anymore) Time to toss and grab a fresh one.
4- This is a messy process. Make sure you'll do it in a place you can easily clean afterwards. The home wax is water soluble. Soak your pan and cutting board with water and it will all dissolve.
5- After the process... The next day or so, create a routine to lightly exfoliate. This will help you avoid ingrown hairs.
6 If you have never waxed before, I would suggest you start with a more do-able task, like your arm pits for instance, and go from there.
And that's it.
Enjoy up to 4 weeks of smooth skin with no shaving worries.
Beach Time!

Good info for women but does something like this work on a man's facial hair?

Yes. It does work for MEN's facial hair. I have actually used that on a friends beard but he could not bear the pain and we didn't finish.
But I do know of another friend that actually did his beard and enjoyed the no-shave situation for a whole month.
It is very common for your pores to bleed a little bit when you do it the first time. Don't let that scare you. Just remember... It hurts a lot the first time, but not so much on the second, and so on... Try on little areas and see how you do... Good Luck!
