Advice On School
posted on 08/31/2009
The pressure to succeed in school at any age can add unwanted stress to one's life.
As if that were not enough, everyone of us at some point has come across a teacher we just could not understand. Whatever the reason maybe the subject was just to complex or the style of teaching was just not reaching us. The main point is that it happens and often with really no one to blame, though at the time it's all about finger pointing.
Keep Calm
Often when we are presented with a problem we tend to panic at least I do. I've been learning some methods that really help to ease one out of this state and in to more of a calm action mode.
Step 1:Start with a deep breath and tell youself it's alright. It's sounds hooky but that reasurrance does help.
Step 2: Write it down, get it out of your head. This step frees up your mind so you can see your dilemma on the paper it's real and it is manageable.
Now maybe you are at least a little more calm and ready to go talk to the folks.
Timing Is Everything
At this point you are calm you have your notes keep taking the deep breaths, approach your parents when they seem calm. You may just want to ask them to set aside some time to give you advice concerning school. Giving your parents the option of picking a time will hopefully ensure their undivided attention. This way of approaching them also indicates that this matter is important to you and that you need thier help.
