Advice On Easy Ways To Save Money
posted on 09/21/2009
Need to save some extra bucks in this economy, but don't know how to do any more than what you have been doing? Here are a few tips to change your money-saving ways and help retain some cash!
Just whistle while you work!
This seems cliche, but you should enjoy your job. By actually liking what you do, you are less likely to buy things, psychologists have discovered, because you are happy at work. When people are unhappy at work , they compensate by buying things at home to make them happier. Then they grumble in to a job they hate to pay off those items that were supposed to make them happy. It's a never-ending cycle of misery and debt, one of which you can avoid if you simply like your job!
Cut back without cutting down.
Let's face it - our society loves bigger and better. But sometimes, we should enjoy simpler and smarter. To save money, cancel that monthly gym subscription and go for a jog in the park. Drink tap water instead of bottled water. Bring lunch from home instead of eating out. Cancel the home phone because you barely use it anyway - and cancel that cable/satellite TV too. By doing this, you save money on things you barely used anyway!
Are your cheques in check?
Now here's the most overused but most effective way to save money - write your spendings down! Chances are, if you spent $21.12, you may round down to 20.00 or 21.00. This is fine every once in a while, but if you keep doing this, you will be shocked at where your money goes and how fast it went. Just keep a log of what you spent, like keeping your chequebook in balance, and you'll remember every last penny's destination, as well as how many more you still have!
