Advice On House Training Puppies And Dogs

Potty training a pet can be very frustrating for both you and your 4-legged loved one. Here are some simple tips to help you both!
When do they need to..."go"...
If you have just brought home a puppy, you should know they usually can't hold it for more than 2 hours at a time for the first few months. So every couple hours, you will have to take them outside or to a weeweepad. If you have just adopted an older dog, you will also have to take them out every few hours to prevent them from making mistakes inside. After they understand that they can't pee or poop inside the home, they should be taken out in mornings, after meals, and before bedtime.
Be Consistent
Whether you have a backyard or you're paper training in your apt, be consistent on where you want your pet to eliminate. This way, whenever you want your dog to "go", you can take them to the weeweepad or outside area and they'll eventually understand what you want them to do. Also be consistent on when you take them out. (So keeping their meal times consistent is helpful also.) Lastly, be consistent on what you say when you want them to "go". Usually a "go pee" or "do your business" works fine.
Shower them with rewards!
When they "go" where/when you want them to go, praise them like crazy! They usually respond well to treats and an enthusiastic "Good Girl/Boy!!!" will get them wagging their tails and excited to have pleased you.
Good luck to you!
