Advice On Choosing And Achieving Your Dream Career
posted on 11/05/2009
I have to start off by saying that I haven't grown up under the best circumstances.
My family isn't exactly wealthy, and upper class careers don't exactly run in my blood.
These, of course, are the parameters which surround most people's lives, and likely as some sort of a direct result, most people don't go on to do great things.
This is an upsetting reality, but it is also one that can be altered by will. If there is one thing that I need to convey over the course of this article, it is this:
You can do anything.
I'm sure that you've heard this from at least one person in your lifetime, and you may have taken this rather broad advice with skepticism. I, however, truly believe that this is the case.
Assuming that I've yet to draw you into my vast sea of optimism, allow me to break down everything that you need to know about choosing- and achieving- a great career.
You can have any career that you want
It's true. No matter who might go out of their way to tell you different, you can do anything that you want. Whether you want to be a lawyer, a doctor, an astronaut, or even a painter, you can do it. Wherever you might need to go, whoever you might need to meet, it is all attainable. The world is a massive place filled with endless opportunities , all you have to do is find the right net to catch them with.
The most important thing to have is work ethic
The one thing that I cannot stress enough is work ethic. Work ethic is the single most important element to success in anything. Literally anything. A man with powerful work ethic could crawl from the slums and become president of the United States.
You simply have to keep going, keep working up, and do whatever work you need to do to reach your dreams. Simply have persistence, work hard, and everything will eventually fall into place.
Take every opportunity!
Never pass up an opportunity for progression, no matter how odd it might seem! Every opportunity for a new job, a new home or a new hobby is a new pathway through life that will lead you to fresh and exciting places. Passing up an interesting opportunity is like passing up the path that could lead you to happiness, so don't let it happen! After all, if you simply ignore everything that comes your way, you'll never work your way up to your dream career.
Get started now!
Stepping back towards work ethic and persistence, why not get started now?
The future is inevitable, and the more you prepare to succeed now, the more likely you will be to do so later. Whether you're in high school or middle school, take steps to get yourself ready for (quite possibly) years of hard work. Maybe even take some initiative to develop that vital work ethic!
Lastly, stay optimistic!
Yes! In order to stay motivated to succeed, it is very important to remain optimistic. Take everything as it comes, and be sure to enjoy every moment with faint symptoms of being enjoyable. Don't sweat the small stuff, roll with the big stuff, and before you know it you'll be living your dreams. After all, you influence your own future!
