Advice On Volunteering At An Animal Rescue
posted on 11/06/2009
I am one of those Americans who lost her pets to the economic crisis and all but her mind with the irrelevent discussions by our government of solutions. Hunger, homelessness are real problems always in america but today the number of Americans facing the hardship and humiliation of these issues has more than tripled. Sadly this economic crisis has left our beloved soulmates, our four legged family friends of in the world of shelters. This is a sadness and thankfully I solved three personnal issues by volunteering at a "no kill" animal shelter. As times mutiply in trouble, as anxiety rises, as we are left without jobs, cope with hopelessness we can still be busy, still contribute, and for me at the Animal Shelter at renewed sense of sharing even if I'm allergic when I kiss the kitties.
Maybe we all could volunteer effort to reduce the suffering of the homeless. The aging who need renewed efforts by local Area Councils on Aging to meet their needs. The young who are strong and able who could volunteer to bring more Americorp Volunteer positions to your community to meet the vast needs unmet in these bad times. Who will find out why Americorp doesn't answer the phone? The disabled who are homeless? You could ask Congress why the Social Security Administration has made the Insurance Industry a waste land?
And at the Animal Shelter remeber to wear rubber boots. Remember to care! But don't kiss the kitties.
