For the last six years, I have worked as an education and employment advisor, helping people get training to improve employment possibilities, or find employment to allow them to complete college.
This downturn, with millions unemployed and all of us profoundly affected, is different from other downturns in depth and timing. I write from my own experience (I was unemployed for much of 2008) in it, but in my work I seek to give the unemployed a voice in this crisis, and a voice in the recovery to come.

A while back, I was working out in the gym, watching CNN on the TV in front of the elliptical trainer I was using. The CNN program "Your $$$$$", with co-hosts Christine Roman and Ali Veshi, was on.
