Requested: Advice On Subject Selection
posted on 11/03/2009
Next year I plan to drop a study period at school to pick up another subject via the Corresspondance School. The problem is that I have to choose between two that I'd like to do: Classical Studies (NCEA* Level 3) or Beginners Chinese Mandarin (which won't give me any credits towards NCEA). I'm swaying towards Beginners Chinese Mandarin because I plan to study it at University (along with Japanese and Interpretation/Translation papers). If I take Beginners Chinese Mandarin, it could give me a solid basis in the language. On the other hand, Classical Studies sounds really interesting and I could easily get the credits for it.
So what do you guys think? I enjoy both subjects, but one might give me a solid basis for when I study it at Uni.
*NCEA is the schooling system in New Zealand, where I live.
