Requested: Advice On Why Isn't Journalism A Popular Career?

When I get into college, I am thinking of getting into journalism. I think it's a great field to get into, and it helps especially if you're a big writer, like myself. I love to write, but I mostly enjoy writing on specific topics. I am actually making journalism next semester at my school, and hopefully, it will got well. However, in the meantime, I am trying to do more research on journalism, but I don't really find much info on it. I even checked out my local bookstore, but they don't seem to have much on journalism. They have every other career you could think of, but nothing on journalism. I get this impression that journalism is not considered a popular career, unlike being a doctor, or a lawyer, or a dentist. But nothing about journalism. I don't get it. Do you know why journalism isn't a popular career?
